Price information published in line with the SRA Transparency Rules 2018. For anything not listed below, we agree a fixed quote in writing before any work begins.
The SRA requires solicitors to publish price and service information for a specific set of matters. Below is that information for each service we offer within scope of the rules, including what's included, likely additional costs, key stages and typical timescales. Unless stated otherwise, VAT is charged at the standard rate, currently 20%.
Our general pricing policy. We give you a cost estimate at the start of any matter, and on request at any time afterwards. For matters heading to court, we base that estimate on our experience of similar cases, agree a spending cap with you in advance, and will not exceed that cap without your written agreement. Where possible we offer flexible payment terms, and for longer matters we can agree a fixed fee for an individual stage rather than the whole case. Fee arrangements are discussed and confirmed at our first meeting. All fees quoted on this page exclude VAT and disbursements (third-party costs we pay on your behalf) unless stated otherwise. If you withdraw your instructions partway through a matter, fees already incurred are payable and are not refunded.
Government fees quoted below (court, Land Registry, Home Office, probate and Gazette fees) are taken from gov.uk and thegazette.co.uk and were correct as of 19 October 2026. These are reviewed periodically by the relevant government bodies — please check gov.uk for the current fee before relying on a figure here, or ask us to confirm it for your case.
Where a matter is charged on an hourly basis (including where noted individually below), these are our standard rates, plus VAT at 20%. The fee-earner grade handling your matter depends on its complexity.
£3,000–£20,000+ total cost, charged on an hourly basis (starting point from £2,000 for the simplest claims)
Plus VAT at 20%, charged at our standard hourly rates above. The total depends on the complexity of the claim, whether discrimination is alleged, how many hearing days are needed, and the fee-earner grade handling it. As a guide: simple claims (1–2 witnesses/issues per side, limited evidence, a 1–2 day hearing) typically run £3,000–£5,000; medium-complexity claims £6,000–£15,000; high-complexity claims £15,000–£20,000+. Fees are lower if your matter settles early or you only instruct us for part of the process.
If your matter settles during Acas early conciliation (before a claim is issued), this is typically achieved in 3–6 months. Claims that proceed to a final Tribunal hearing typically take 12–18 months, and can take longer where the case is complex.
£750–£2,000 fixed fee for simpler estates, or a percentage of the estate's value for larger or more complex estates
Plus VAT at 20%. We'll confirm which pricing basis applies, and the exact figure, once we know the size and complexity of the estate.
On average, a straightforward, uncontested estate takes 4–8 months from start to finish: typically 8–10 weeks to obtain the Grant of Probate, a further 4–8 weeks to collect in the estate's assets, and 6–14 weeks to distribute to beneficiaries once that's done. Estates with property to sell, or Inheritance Tax to pay, usually take longer. We'll give a realistic estimate once we understand the estate.
£1,000–£2,000 (debts up to £5,000); £2,000–£3,000 (£10,000–£25,000); £3,000–£5,000 (£25,000+), for an undisputed debt. Charged at our standard hourly rates above where a fixed fee isn't agreed.
Plus VAT at 20%. Total cost depends on the value of the debt and whether it becomes disputed. We haven't yet published a fixed-fee figure for debts of £5,000–£10,000 specifically — ask us for an estimate for a debt in that range.
For an undisputed debt, typical timescales average 6–12 months (debts up to £5,000), 8–12 months (£10,000–£25,000), or 10–18 months (£25,000+), from letter before action to recovery. Disputed debts, or those requiring enforcement, usually take longer. We'll give a realistic estimate for your matter.
Typical fixed fees range from £800 to £5,000 depending on the application type, or an hourly rate for more complex matters — confirmed in writing before any work begins
Plus VAT at 20%, except fees for representation before the Immigration Tribunal, which may not attract VAT — we'll confirm this for your case. As a guide: Points Based System applications (e.g. Graduate Entrepreneur, sole Entrepreneur or Entrepreneur team routes) typically £3,000–£5,000, with a business-plan review included and business-plan preparation £2,000–£3,000 extra; a child immigration application where the child isn't living with a parent or close relative typically £1,200–£2,000; an adult studying at an approved UK institution typically £1,000–£1,500. For other application types our typical range is £800–£4,000 — we haven't yet published a fixed figure against every named route, so please ask us for a quote for your specific application.
Timescales are largely set by the Home Office rather than by us, and vary widely by route. We'll give a realistic estimate once we know which route applies.
We agree a fixed fee or hourly rate with you in writing before any work begins, based on the value and complexity of the transfer
Plus VAT at 20%. We do not currently act on mortgage-funded sales, purchases or remortgages — this service covers non-mortgage transfers only, such as a transfer of equity or a transfer between family members.
Straightforward, non-mortgage transfers are usually quicker than a full sale or purchase — we'll give a realistic estimate once we understand the transfer.
Family law isn't one of the categories the SRA requires us to publish fixed pricing for, since costs vary so widely with the circumstances of each case. We agree a fixed fee or an hourly rate with you in writing before any work begins — see our family law page or get in touch for an estimate.

Not for every matter. The figures above are typical starting points, and some cases — litigation, tribunals, immigration — depend heavily on individual circumstances. Wherever we can quote a fixed fee, we will, in writing, before any billable work begins.
They're a typical range or starting point based on similar past matters. Your actual fee depends on the specifics of your case, and we'll confirm this in your engagement letter before work starts.
The SRA only requires published pricing for the services above. For anything else, we'll agree a fixed quote or hourly rate with you in writing before starting work — see our services page or get in touch.

Tell us what's going on and we'll give you a clear, written estimate — the initial conversation costs nothing.
